Li Ka-Shing’s Horizons Ventures backs Everything.me
Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-Shing’s Horizons Ventures, which is known for investments in Facebook and Spotify, has led a $3.5 million funding round in Everything.me, a mobile search provider.
The company has now raised a total of $12.5 million from VC investors, having been supported in previous rounds by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, BRM Group and DFJTFV.
Everything.me, which originally launched under the name DoAT in May 2010, is headquartered in Israel and has operations in San Francisco. Using HTML5, it offers personalized and localized shortcuts instead of traditional link-based search results.
"Horizons Ventures' deep focus in emerging internet technologies and investments in companies like SIRI, Facebook and Spotify make them the perfect complement to our great team of investors," Rami Kasterstein, co-founder and CEO of Everything.me, said. "We look forward to working with Horizons to leverage their valuable insights and networks."
Jason Wong, director at Horizons Ventures added the market is ripe for disruption in mobile search and there is a need for a groundbreaking approach.
"We have made this strategic investment because we believe Everything.me is the mobile search for the smartphone age," he commented.
