Bessemer backs Indian IT services provider Anunta
Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP) has invested in Anunta Technology Management Services, a cloud-based IT services company, as part of Series A investment round. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Anunta says it will use the investment to build its product platform, boost sales and marketing, and sell its products globally.
Founded by Ananda Mukerji, CEO of business process outsourcing (BPO) firm Firstsource Solutions, and Sanjiv Dalal, ex-CTO of Firstsource Solutions, Anunta is an application delivery as a service (ADaaS) company, providing cloud-based IT application solutions. Clients include private sector banks, financial institutions and business services companies.
"We are excited about the potential of cloud computing and server and desktop virtualization. SMBs and large corporates have begun to adopt new age technologies and are looking at ways to cut costs and improve application performance," said Vishal Gupta, managing director of BVP India, in a statement. "CIOs are expected to deliver high performance at lower costs and Anunta's platform helps companies achieve this by managing costs, increasing productivity and guaranteeing end-user satisfaction."
Bessemer currently has $4 billion under active management. Its portfolio spans a number of industries and geographies and includes companies such as Skype, VeriSign, Yelp, LinkedIn and Pinterest.
IT and data services companies in India have attracted a lot of investment from venture capital in recent months, most notably in the big data space where many tech start-ups have been spawned by India's BPO and knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) sectors.
Recent transactions of note include Mu Sigma's $108 million Series D round led by General Atlantic and Sequoia Capital, and Fidelity Growth Partners $20 million investment in AbsolutData.
