Update: Morgan Stanley co-head of M&A departs for Barclays
One month after news broke of Morgan Stanley's Asia Pacific head of M&A Edward King departing to Barclays, the British bank has reportedly lured one of King’s replacements at Morgan Stanley, Peter Ding.
Reports on the subject cite a Morgan Stanley spokesman who confirmed Ding's resignation. In June, reports broke that King would be replaced by Ding and Samuel Kim, who were to assume the roles of co-heads of Asia Pacific M&A. Ding has reportedly been tapped to be Barclays Capital's Greater China co-head.
With Ding, Gary Kuo - Morgan Stanley's Taiwan Chairman - has been tapped to co-manage Barclays Capital investment banking operations in Greater China.
Preceding the hires of Kuo, Ding and King, Morgan Stanley's regional head of investment banking Matthew Ginsburg joined Barclays in September as its Asia Pacific head of investment banking.
Separately, Barclays Capital has appointed Goldman Sachs' Head of Mergers & Acquisitions for China Vanessa Koo as its MD of M&A in Hong Kong, with a focus on China, and BNP Paribas' Head of Real Estate Investment James Lim, who will be MD and Head of Real Estate for Asia Pacific. Last month, the bank also hired Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.'s head of the Middle East and North Africa Makram Azar to be the head of investment banking for the region.
