Global PE firms make Asian appointments
The Asian arms of General Atlantic, Partners Group and Aureos Capital have announced a number of appointments ahead of the 2012 fiscal year.
General Atlantic has promoted Beijing-based Jing Hong, who leads the firm's global emerging markets consumer sector, to the role of managing director and Ke Wei, also based in the city, to the role of principal.
Hong's appointment comes three years after she joined General Atlantic from Warburg Pincus, where she specialized in the consumer goods, retail and financial service sectors. She was previously an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company.
Wei, meanwhile, has previously worked at Actis, BCG and China Daily.
In conjunction with these appointments, General Atlantic also promoted Joern Nikolay to the role of principal in London.
Partners Group has also announced year-end promotions in Asia, Europe and North America, including co-head of Singapore Andreas Baumann as partner. In the role, he will continue to lead regional operations out of Partners' Asian hub.
In addition, Partners has named both Alex Cho, within the firm's investment solutions arm in Seoul, and Raphael Meier, co-head of product management in both Zug and Singapore, as managing directors.
Emerging markets-focused Auros Capital also named a new partner in Asia, Ashish Patel, who joins from AVG Technologies, the global security software company, where he was head of Strategy, Emerging Markets and Corporate Development since 2010. He previously spent more than a decade at Intel Capital, where he was managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa from 2003.
