Religare Capital names Anwar Head of Middle East
Religare Capital, a subsidy of Indian financial services group Religare Enterprises, has named Shehzad Anwar as the head of its Middle East business, charged with bolstering its regional practice.
Anwar, based in Dubai, told AVCJ that his responsibilities include promoting cross-border business between the Middle East and India, helping “Indian companies that are looking to do business with companies in the Middle East and Middle Eastern companies looking to invest in India.” These investments, he added, will be focused on soft infrastructure targets, in areas such as the education sector, as well as healthcare service providers.
Anwar joins from CLSA’s Dubai office, where he was a Managing Director and Head of the Middle East, holding similar duties as his role at Religare. He was previously the Director and Head of Equities at BMA Capital Pakistan and Director at ABN AMRO Asia.
