SE Asia financial services specialist Triple P adds partner

Triple P Capital, an impact investor focused on financial services in emerging Southeast Asia, has recruited Ke Qi Zhang from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as its third partner.
Zhang (pictured) spent more than five years at IFC making private equity investments in banks, non-bank financial institutions, insurance companies, and financial technology businesses. Before that, Zhang worked in corporate development at Allianz, focusing on M&A, joint ventures, and new partnerships.
She joins a leadership team comprising Triple P’s co-founders and incumbent partners, Alexander Krefft and David Steel. Both previously worked for AIG, with Krefft subsequently moving on to Chandler Corporation and Steel to LeapFrog Investments.
In line with the industry experience of its founders, Triple P largely focuses on the insurance sub-sector of financial services. It backs relatively mature companies, often helping them achieve operational improvements through the application of technology.
Established in 2014, the firm closed its debut fund on USD 51m in 2017. Portfolio companies include Contemi, an Asia-based IT services provider to the insurance industry, Vietnamese property and casualty insurer GIC, and Cambodia and Laos-focused life insurer Forte Insurance Group.
“I am very excited to be joining Triple P Capital, an exceptional impact investor with a specific focus on financial services. Southeast Asia is one of the world’s most attractive financial services markets driven by massive under-penetration and surging demand,” Zhang said.
