Sequoia China leads $210m Series A for Envision Digital
Sequoia Capital China has led a USD 210m Series A round for Envision Digital, a Singapore-based technology developer focused on helping organisations achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
GIC also participated in the round. It follows closely on the establishment of partnerships with Lightsource BP and Mott MacDonald, which will focus on solar power and clean urban transportation, respectively.
Envision’s core product is an artificial intelligence (AI) and internet-of-things (IoT) analytics and operations monitoring system called ENoS. It helps governments and companies manage the production of renewable energy and their consumption of energy with a view to reducing their carbon footprint and achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
ENoS is said to connect and manage more than 200m smart devices and 400 gigawatts of energy assets globally, which is considered enough power for between 120m and 300m homes. Companies using the technology to manage projects such as solar plants and smart grids include Malaysia’s TNB Renewables, Thailand’s PTT Group, and Japan’s Orix Corporation.
Envision claims that its broader ecosystem encompasses more than 500 customers and partners, spanning retail, industrial, government, energy, and transportation. They include Accenture, Bureau Veritas, Keppel Corporation, Microsoft, and PSA international.
The company has about 900 employees across 13 offices in Singapore, China, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, the US, UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway. It will use the latest funding to further expand its footprint globally, pursue R&D, and explore new strategic partnerships.
