Australia's Quadrant recruits KKR managing director

Australian mid-market GP Quadrant Private Equity is adding a fourth managing partner with the recruitment of Gareth Woodbridge from KKR.
The move was first reported by the Australian Financial Review and has since been confirmed to AVCJ by Quadrant. KKR declined to comment.
Woodbridge - who will primarily work on investments under Quadrant's flagship buyout strategy - is one of the most senior lateral hires the firm has made. He will join a leadership cohort comprising Chris Hadley, Quadrant’s executive chairman, and Marcus Darville, Alex Eady, and Jonathon Pearce, all managing partners.
Eady and Pearce were promoted to this rank in late 2019 and Justin Ryan, who became a managing partner alongside Darville in 2015, departed last year to form Glow Capital Partners.
Following stints at UBS, CVC Capital Partners and Archer Capital, Woodbridge joined KKR in 2015 and was promoted to managing director at the end of 2019. He has served on the boards of cosmetic treatment provider Laser Clinics Australia, cancer care business GenesisCare, and bar and venue operator Australia Venue.
Quadrant is currently deploying its seventh mid-market buyout fund – its 10th including early years as a captive GP – which closed on AUD 1.24bn (USD 938m) in late 2020. A second growth vehicle of AUD 530m closed last year.
Below the leadership team, there are 12 investment professionals spread across the buyout and growth strategies. In the past year, the buyout team has been strengthened with the promotion of Chris Coates to partner and the recruitment of Mark Chudek from Affinity Equity Partners. Darville is now primarily responsible for the growth strategy, working with Simon Pither, a partner.
