KKR promotes Chris Sun to partner

Chris Sun (pictured), a managing director at KKR who focuses on investments in China’s consumer sector, has been promoted to partner.
Sun – who is also a member of the global impact investment team – is one of 18 individuals elevated to partner level globally, while a further 42 became managing directors.
The other newly appointed partners in Asia are Cathy Cai, who works with the Capstone operations division in Beijing, Brian Dillard, a member of the credit and markets team in Hong Kong, and Hardik Shah, who focuses on infrastructure out of Mumbai.
The new managing directors are David Katz, who heads up public policy and affairs in Asia, Keith Kim from the infrastructure team in Seoul, and Mumbai-based Capstone executive Ananya Tripathi.
Sun joined KKR in 2007 from Goldman Sachs. He has worked on deals such as China Modern Dairy, Vats Liquor Chain, Asia Dairy, COFCO Meat, Sunner Development, Yuehai Feed Group, Gambol Pet Group, Cue & Co, Jiangsu Yuguan, ByteDance, Xingsheng Yongxuan, and Huohua Logic.
KKR is currently deploying its fourth pan-Asian fund, which closed in April on $15 billion. The firm’s total assets in the region exceed $30 billion, with its latest infrastructure and real estate funds earlier this year at $3.9 billion and $1.7 billion, respectively. KKR is also active in the credit space.
