Singapore audience data business sold to trade buyer
US data and analytics services provider Dun & Bradstreet has agreed to acquire Singapore audience data business Eyeota, setting up exits for several private equity investors.
Dun & Bradstreet – which is simultaneously pursuing an acquisition of NetWise, a similar company in the US – said it was attempting to extend its position in the B2B online marketing value chain and build out its existing “audience solutions” business. Transaction details will be disclosed on closing.
Eyeota has received at least $19.5 million in private equity and venture capital commitments since its inception in 2010, according to AVCJ Research. This includes a $12.5 million round in 2018 led by France’s Jolt Capital that included Qualgro Partners and Project A Ventures.
Project A, Global Brain, eVentures, and Infinity Ventures (now known as Headline) provided $7 million in 2016. Previous backers reportedly include Ukraine-based TA Ventures, Germany’s Heilemann Ventures, and Australia’s Nucam Ventures.
Kevin Tan, a co-founder of Eyeota who served as CEO until 2019, has joined four rounds via a vehicle known as Blackbook Ventures. Tan is currently a venture partner at UK-based FirstPartyCapital and a mentor at Singapore’s Quest Ventures. He was replaced as CEO of Eyeota by fellow co-founder Kristina Prokop in 2019.
Founded in 2010, Eyeota provides advertisers with data that can help them access potential online customers, while enabling media groups and offline data suppliers to monetize their audiences. The company describes its products as “privacy-by-design,” flexible, and interoperable across all major platforms, channels, and identifiers. It claims to be the largest operator of its kind globally.
“Eyeota’s expansive global data onboarding and activation capabilities are underpinned by our commitment to delivering audience solutions at scale, and we are proud of the work we have accomplished to develop one of the most powerful, agile and interoperable frameworks for delivering addressable data in a privacy-conscious era,” Prokop, said in a statement.
