ClearVue backs China-focused pet lifestyle brand

ClearVue Partners has led a $20 million Series B round for Vetreska, a US-headquartered and China-focused pet lifestyle brand.
It follows a $6 million Series A last year from SIG China. Earlier investors include Hejun Capital, IDG Capital Partners, and Galileo Ventures, according to AVCJ Research.
Founded 2017, Vetreska positions itself as a leader in product design and brand building for China’s millennial and generation Z pet owners. The company has a distribution network of 40,000 stores in 33 provinces nationwide. It describes its target market as set to more than double in size during the next five years to $67 billion.
“Vetreska is undoubtedly a pioneer and industry leader in the emerging pet lifestyle space with its unique product innovation capabilities and global vision,” William Chen, founding managing partner at ClearVue, said in a statement. “With ClearVue’s expertise and unparalleled experience in building brands, we will support Vetreska to accelerate its growth and capture the vast opportunity in China for leading domestic brands.”
Shanghai-based ClearVue was founded in 2012 by Chen, formerly of DT Capital Partners, and Harry Hui, previously head of marketing for Pepsico International in China, with a strong focus on the modernization of Chinese consumer behavior. It launched its third fund last year with a target of $600 million. Fund II closed in 2017 at $362 million.
