Eight Roads appoints Southeast Asia head
Eight Roads Ventures, the proprietary investment arm of Fidelity International, has named Dave Ng as its head of Southeast Asia based in Singapore.
The firm opened its Singapore office in September last year with a view to expanding its exposure to the region, where it plans to make early and growth-stage investments of up to $30 million in technology, healthcare, consumer, and financial services companies. Ng will serve as part of the Eight Roads India team, which is responsible for both South and Southeast Asia.
Ng joins the firm from B Capital, a US-based VC established by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, where he served as a venture partner. Previously he was a director at IT services provider Oracle in the US, where he led cloud and data center management strategies. He was also a management consultant at Boston Consulting Group, working across China and Southeast Asia.
“His experience and network in the region will be invaluable given both the breadth and reach of our existing investments, and our ambition to develop into new areas of interest, particularly within the fintech, consumer tech and enterprise software sectors,” Raj Dugar, Eight Roads’ managing partner for Asia, said in a statement.
To date, the firm has three portfolio companies in Southeast Asia, including Singapore pharmaceutical manufacturer Eywa Pharm, Singapore financial technology company Silot, and Akulaku, a China-based consumer finance platform that focuses on Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
