KKR makes seven senior-level promotions in Asia - update
Diane Raposio, who leads KKR’s fundraising activities in Asia, and Jaka Prasetya, the firm’s Indonesia head, have both been promoted to partner level.
They are two of 23 member promotions KKR announced globally. A further 44 individuals became managing directors, five of whom are based in Asia.
Raposio joined the firm in 2013 and currently heads up both the capital markets team and the client and partner group in Asia. She previously spent six years covering leveraged debt capital markets at Deutsche Bank. Raposio played a key role in raising KKR’s third pan-Asian fund, which closed at a record $9.3 billion in May, and has also worked on debt financings for a string of portfolio companies.
Prasetya is in charge of KKR’s credit and special situations investment platforms in Southeast Asia, in addition to leading activities in Indonesia. He founded Leafgreen Capital Partners in 2011 to provide mezzanine and structured growth funding for mid-cap companies in Southeast Asia, and then joined KKR – along with two ex-Leafgreen colleagues – in 2014.
The managing director promotions include Rupen Jhaveri, who has been with KKR’s India team since its inception in 2009, and Chung Ho Park, co-head of day-to-day activities in South Korea. Jhaveri has been involved in investments such as Alliance Tire Group, Magma Fincorp, SBI Life Insurance and Bharti Infratel, while Park has worked on deals including Oriental Brewery, Ticket Monster, and this year’s LS Group carve-out.
The other new Asia-based managing directors are: Susan Hutchison, head of Asia Pacific human resources at KKR since 2011; Matthew Claughton, who has been with the Capstone team in Australia for the last three years; and Tashwinder Singh, a member of the capital markets team in Mumbai since 2011, who focuses on KKR's non-banking finance company (NBFC).
Earlier this year, Joe Bae, who established KKR's Asia business in 2005 and led activities in the region, was named co-president and co-COO of the firm as co-founders Henry Kravis and George Roberts prepare to hand over leadership to the next generation. Bae shares his duties with Scott Nuttall. Kravis and Roberts continue to lead the firm as co-chairmen and co-CEOs.
