HarbourVest's Kelvin Yap promoted to managing director
HarbourVest Partners has promoted Hong Kong-based Kelvin Yap, who focuses on growth equity and buyout investments in Asia Pacific, to managing director.
Yap joined the firm in London in 2006, having previously specialized in M&A due diligence for public and private transactions at Deloitte. He transferred to the Hong Kong office three years later.
Responsible for primary partnership fund investments and direct co-investments in the region, Yap is on the advisory boards of funds managed by CHAMP Ventures, ChrysCapital, Clearwater Capital Partners and KV Asia. He is also a board observer at Sea Swift, an Australia-based seaborne logistics business that was acquired by CHAMP Ventures in 2012.
Yap is one of three managing director appointments globally in HarbourVest's 2016 round of promotions. The firm also named 13 new principals and vice presidents. These include Beijing-based Shuming Gong, who was promoted to principal. She joined HarbourVest from Goldman Sachs in 2010 and focuses on business development and marketing as well as primary partnership investments.
HarbourVest has more than $40 billion in assets under management globally across primary fund investments, secondary investments and direct co-investments in co-mingled funds and separately managed accounts. It has over 100 investment professionals based in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
