General Atlantic promotes two Asia PE professionals
General Atlantic has promoted Mumbai-based Shantanu Rastogi and Hong Kong-based Erin Chang.
Rastogi, who currently leads investments for the firm's Mumbai office, will be promoted to managing director, while Chang, a senior investment professional, will become a principal. The promotions will take effect January 1, according to a release.
Hired as a principal in the Mumbai office in 2013, Rastogi focuses on investments in the financial services, healthcare, and retail and consumer space in India and Asia-Pacific. Prior to joining General Atlantic he worked as a principal at Apax Partners, focusing on the healthcare and retail sectors. He previously worked as an associate for General Atlantic from 2005 to 2007, before leaving to become a consultant at McKinsey & Company.
During his time at the firm Rastogi has been involved in many of its investments in India, including PNB Housing Finance, which went public this year in an offering that saw participation by General Atlantic. He also took part in last year's INR11.2 billion ($173 million) investment in IIFL Wealth Management.
Chang has been with General Atlantic since 2007, having previously worked as a business analyst for McKinsey & Company, and concentrates on the healthcare and consumer and retail sectors. Investments in which she has taken part include a commitment to Chinese tourism-focused GP Ocean Link earlier this year and the 2012 purchase of Actis' stake in hotpot chain Xiabu Xiabu.
General Atlantic has more than 100 investment professionals worldwide. Its Asia presence includes offices in Hong Kong, Mumbai, Singapore and Beijing.
