Intel Capital appoints Anthony Lin as Asia head
Intel Capital has named Anthony Lin, who has been with parent company Intel Corp’s M&A team since 2008, as managing director and head of Asia.
He is one of four managing director appointments announced globally. Intel said the moves were part of broader restructuring efforts intended to streamline its investment process and give start-ups more access to company business units.
Lin has executed more than two dozen corporate transactions for Intel, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and equity investments. He has experience in all segments of the technology industry and has participated in capital markets and M&A deals. Prior to joining Intel Capital, Lin worked in corporate development and investment banking.
Intel Capital previously carved up responsibility for Asia as China and non-China. Richard Hsu was the managing director with the China brief until his departure last year for SIG. Sudheer Kuppam, who had a similar role covering India, Korea, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan, left around the same time. He now runs his own firm, Epsilon Venture Partners, which covers the same geographies.
According to Intel Capital's website, Hong Kong-based Michael Scown is the other managing director focusing on Asia. He joined the firm as Asia legal counsel in 1999 and has held his current position since 2006.
Earlier this year, Intel Capital abandoned plans to offload some of its investments - having reportedly considered a secondary sale of assets worth up to $1 billion. Wendell Brooks, the captive VC unit's president, said there would likely be alterations to the team's structure.
