The Winners Circle: 2011 AVCJ China Awards

Last Friday, at the closing luncheon of our highly successful AVCJ Private Equity & Venture Forum/China conference, we gave out our first ever dedicated awards focused on private equity and venture capital activity across China. Excited by the positive views the conference’s distinguished speakers share, representatives from some of China’s premier PE firms attended this event.

For the few of you unfamiliar with our Awards, they were established in 2003 when the industry (thanks in a large part to SARS) had been in a slump. The Awards were intended to add a bit of fun and friendly competition, with a focus on "recognizing excellence in Asian private equity."

Over the ensuing eight years, the AVCJ Awards have remained true to their original goal, with the gaining recognition from the international community as sound judges of deals, companies and professionals across the region. We have expanded the Awards to include a dedicated Indian awards last year and now we have our China Awards.

Nominations for the China Awards came from the general public, including AVCJ's readers, Asia private equity GPs and LPs and related professionals from across the world. We got quite a few nominations in each category. The nominations were tallied by the editors of the AVCJ and a shortlist was then sent to an independent panel of private equity and venture capital industry LPs for final assessment.

The result is the following list of winners, although I would like to add that each of the nominees is a winner in their own right. Congratulations to all.
