China menstruation-tracking app Meet You raises $35m
SIG Asia Investment has led a $35 million Series C round of funding for Meet You, a Chinese menstrual health mobile app, with participation from Matrix Partners and China Renaissance K2 Ventures.
Meet You, operated by Xiamen-based Linggan Fangzhou, launched in April 2013. It started as a menstruation tracker and has since added an online female social networking platform, allowing users to share views on topics ranging from diet to parenting. The company now claims to have more than 50 million registered users, with average daily active users of over 3.5 million.
The funding will primarily be used to expand the company's human resources capabilities and its and user base, local media reported.
China Renaissance K2 Ventures provided an undisclosed sum in Series A funding last year. In January 2014, Meet You closed a $15 million Series B round led by Matrix Partners. Fangyi Chen, the app's founder, and his team invested $5 million in the second round.
Earlier this month, Dayima.com, Meet You's competitor, secured a $30 million Series C round of funding. Ceyuan Ventures led the round, with participation from existing backers Sequoia Capital and Bertelsmann Asia Investments.
