Sequoia, Accel commit $8m to India's WizRocket
Sequoia Capital India and Accel Partners have invested $8 million to Indian analytics and mobile engagement platform WizRocket.
WizRocket, which is currently in private beta testing stage, will use the capital to continue development of its software, according to a release. The company is based in Mumbai and Silicon Valley and has more than 300 customers around the world.
WizRocket's software is aimed at developers who need to fine tune the way their apps handle notifications. Programmers can use the platform to make push notifications more relevant to their customers, based on their demographic information and previous interactions; marketers can also use it to analyze campaigns for signs of success. The company supports iOS, Android, and Windows Phone apps.
Clients include payment solutions provider Freecharge, online clothing retailer Zovi, and discussion platform Disqus. It competes with other analytics platforms such as Urban Airship and Localytics.
This is Accel's second investment in WizRocket. The firm previously committed $1.6 million in seed funding in 2014. Currently Accel is investing out of its fourth India fund, which closed in March at $305 million. It focuses on early-stage companies in the consumer, IT, and medical sectors.
