India's Hansa Customer Equity gets $4.7m round
Indian GP ASK Pravi has invested INR300 million ($4.7 million) in Hansa Customer Equity (Hansa Cequity), a Mumbai-based company that provides consulting services covering marketing, customer strategy, data management, and customer relationship management (CRM).
The company, for which this is the first external funding round, was launched in 2008. It claims to have 85 million unique customers profiles, analyse five million customer conversations and have more than 750 automated campaigns running every week.
Hansa's CRM solutions are delivered via an online platform-as-a-service (PaaS) model. PaaS is a category of cloud computing that provides hardware and software tools for which users would usually need to develop their own applications.
"We are looking at global expansion into key markets where data-driven marketing is increasingly gaining attention of CMOs and CIOs," said Ajay Kelkar, COO of Hansa Cequity, in a statement. "By 2017, CMOs are expected to invest more in marketing technology than CIOs. This will help us bring-in cross learnings and global best practices across developed and emerging markets,"
The investment was made via ASK Pravi Capital Advisors, a joint venture between ASK Group and Pravi Capital, which invests in sectors such as IT, healthcare, leisure, and food and beverages. It typically commits $5-10 million per transaction.
Previous investments include Gateforum Educational Services, which received $6 million in July last year, and Indian Clothing League, which also received $6 million the preceding February, according to AVCJ Research.
