CVC appoints Steve Lim as South Korea chairman
CVC Capital Partners has hired Steve Lim, former CEO and managing director of JP Morgan in South Korea, as its chairman in the country.
Before joining JP Morgan, Lim - who was also a member of Financial Industry Strategic Policy Advisory Council for Seoul - worked in the Investment Banking division of Salomon Brothers across Seoul, Tokyo and New York. Prior to that he worked at Kidder Peabody and Procter & Gamble in the US.
"We are delighted to have Steve join us to lead and further strengthen our presence in Korea," said Roy Kuan, managing partner of CVC Asia. "We have known Steve for over 15 years and it is a great honour to work in partnership with one of the top dealmakers in Korea and the region."
CVC has a network of 20 offices globally and over 300 employees across Europe, Asia, and the US. The firm has secured commitments of over $60 billion and completed over 300 investments to date.
In January it was reported that the GP had returned $2 billion to investors from Asia-based investments in 2014 after completing three full or partial exits - which contributed $1 billion of the proceeds - in December. The private equity firm closed its fourth pan-Asian fund last year at the hard cap of $3.5 billion.
