Panorama leads Series D round for Skyfire’s Asia expansion
Panorama Capital has led a $10 million Series D round of funding for Skyfire, intended help the mobile video optimization and cloud solutions company expand in Asia.
Panorama is a new investor in the company. Existing investors Verizon Ventures, Matrix Partners, Trinity Ventures, and Lightspeed Venture Partners also participating in the funding.
Skyfire aims to battle what its CEO Jeff Glueck has coined as "mobile warming," or the strain put on mobile networks dealing with exponentially greater data use. The company's carrier-grade network video and data optimization platform offers bandwidth savings for wireless operators, with an average 60% data saving for video and 50% for images.
Skyfire will use the funds to meet the demands of its growing numbers of wireless operator customers with aggressive expansion within Europe and Asia. The company already has offices in London and Silicon Valley, and wants to seek opportunities in markets such as Japan, Southeast Asia and Australia.
