
Anjali Bansal hired as Asia, Africa partner at TPG Growth
TPG Growth - the mid-market growth equity platform of TPG Capital - has hired Anjali Bansal as partner and managing director. She will focus on human resources in Asia and Africa.
According to a release, Bansal will be based in Mumbai where she will focus on the developing the platform across these two regions while building the GPs market presence in India.
Bansal was previously founding managing director of the Indian operations of executive search and consulting firm Spencer Stuart. While there she co-led the firm's Asia Pacific Board and CEO practice. Prior to that Bansal was a strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company in New York and Mumbai.
"Our ability to identify strong entrepreneurs and build first-rate management teams who can create value in our portfolio companies is an important differentiator for TPG Growth," said Bill McGlashan, founder and managing partner of TPG Growth. "The breadth of Anjali's experience combined with her expertise and insights into what it takes to build and cultivate strong teams will therefore be of significant value to us."
TPG Growth has more than $7 billion in assets under management and committed capital. It reached a final close of $3 billion on its third global middle market fund in April, surpassing its initial target of $2.75 billion.
The firm predominantly focuses on the US market but makes investments across several large emerging markets including China, India, Brazil, and Southeast Asia.
In India, the firm is invested in bulk container manufacturer Flexituff, renewable energy player Greenko, Lilliput Kidswear, and medical equipment maker Sutures India. It has also entered Southeast Asia, backing Apollo Towers in Myanmar, and feed manufacturer Proconco and conglomerate Masan Group in Vietnam.
China assets include: agricultural biotechnology company Agria Corporation, China Vogue Casual Wear, wind power developer Hong Kong Energy, MI Energy, NT Pharma, and Yunnan Red Wine. Its Asia offices are in Singapore, Mumbai, and Beijing.
