Unitas, CCMP to list UK vacuum firm
Asian-based Unitas Capital, with co-investor CCMP Capital, has submitted listing filings for British vacuum brand Edwards Group, coming 43 years after the company was first taken private.
According to The Telegraph, Edwards' backers aim to list at least 25% of the company's shares in an IPO next month, in a deal that could be worth as much as GBP1.5 billion ($2.4 billion). The report notes that Edwards was privatized by the British Oxygen Company, later rebranded as BOC Group, 43 years ago, before being bought by Unitas and CCMP.
Edwards is a supplier of integrated solutions for the manufacture of microelectronics devices, including semiconductors and flat-panel displays, according to Unitas' website, which notes that it is also a world leader in vacuum technology for industrial, scientific, process and R&D applications. The company claims 4,000 staff globally and supplies manufacturers in Asia, America and Europe.
