PE-owned Tasti D-Lite to serve yogurt in Australia
Private equity-owned frozen yogurt franchise Tasti D-Lite will open its first branch in Australia later this month.
New York-based Tasti D-Lite, which was acquired by SPG Partners in 2007, is seeking wider franchise opportunities in the country, Australia's Smart Company reported, starting with its first branch in Melbourne.
Tasti D-Lite hopes to launch 30 branches in Australia within five years, and build a global network of 500 franchises through a combination of single- and multi-unit branches in the coming years. According to the company, Tasti D-Lite has international locations in Mexico and the United Arab Emirates, and will open units Panama this year in addition to its Australia plans.
The company, launched in 1987, pioneered the low-calorie, low-fat frozen yogurt concept, and currently offers more than 100 flavors. SPG Partners has helped to grow Tasti D-Lite's footprint from just 34 retail locations throughout New York City, Texas, New Jersey, Connecticut and Florida in 2007 to its current franchise base.
