Japanese mobile app Quan gets VC backing
Japanese mobile game developer Quan has received an undisclosed sum from a group of domestic VC investors.
The backers include Dentsu Digital Holdings, IMJ Investment partners, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Venture Capital, and Senshu Ikeda Capital. Existing investors Daiwa Corporate Investment and East Ventures also took part in the round.
Set up in 2011, Tokyo-based Quan is the start-up behind mobile apps like Lounge and MyStickerShop, which was launched in partnership with Thailand's leading telcom provider AIS.
The company has also developed Japanese versions of popular mobile games from Thai developers such as Kiragames, PocketPlayLab, and PromptNow. It will use this latest investment to strengthen its business operations in Southeast Asia.
Quan raised an earlier undisclosed round from Japanese e-commerce giant Netprice.com, Daiwa and East Ventures in 2012. In August this year, the start-up invested in Bangkok-based games startup Magic Box Asia.
