Shunwei invests in China online travel site Fxtrip
Shunwei Capital Partners has provided a Series A round of funding for Fxtrip.com, a Chinese outbound travel start-up.
The size of the round amounts to millions of dollars.
The travel site was set up by Zhenhua Wang, formerly vice president of China classifies site Ganji.com, in September. It is positioned as a value-added boutique travel agency. For example, the team will experience travel destinations and hotel services before making recommendations to tourists.
Wang told local media that the company's strategy is similar to mobile phone brand Xiaomi, which focused on building up product quality and reputation ahead of business expansion. The new funding will be used to improve products and services, as well as for hiring new staff.
Shunwei was set up by Lei Jun, a noted angel investor and co-founder of Xiaomi. Last month the VC firm closed its second fund at $525 million.
