IDG backs Chinese app developer Landscape mobile
IDG Capital Partners has committed $1.85 million in seed funding to Landscape Mobile, the China- and US-based developer of mobile information management app Sight.
A small number of angel investors also participated. The company, which is led by Zhuge Yue, formerly head of product at Yahoo's global R&D center in Beijing, will use the new capital for product development and growing its business within the US market.
Landscape Mobile describes itself as a developer of mobile tools that harness the intuitive power of images and improve mobile productivity. In Sight, it has an app that allows users to save screenshots of articles rather than go through the sometimes laborious process of copying and pasting information. The saved image is linked to the original content, making management and retrieval easier.
"We are delighted to be the lead investor behind the talented team at Landscape Mobile and the launch of Sight," said Feng Li, a partner at IDG, said in a statement. "Sight's unique technology significantly improves users' productivity and reading experience and the potential for the team's deep imaging expertise is enormous in terms of how it can radically improve the mobile experience."
Landscape Mobile was founded by Yue and Bai Tian, also founder and CEO of photo editing platform FHCY and an ex-program manager at Microsoft. Combining Yue's big data experience and Tian's imaging expertise, the company has also developed Ivy Gallery, an app that aggregates online cloud photographs for Android and iOS platforms.
