AMP names Davies global head of infrastructure
Australia-based AMP Capital Investors has appointed former Macquarie Capital executive Scott Davies as its global head of infrastructure, replacing Phil Garling who is set to retire.
Davies will assume the position in July, reporting to AMP Capital Managing Director Stephen Dunne. Davies will take responsibility for developing AMP's range of infrastructure products and leading the global team in sourcing new investment opportunities.
Davies previously held the role of CEO and alternate director of Macquarie's Communications Infrastructure Group since the group's 2002 launch. That unit makes equity investments in communications infrastructure projects. Davies has additional experience from his time working at Macquarie Capital in New York and London.
Garling joined AMP from Tenix Infrastructure, where he was CEO. According to AMP's website, he has also served as chief executive of Lend Lease Capital Services, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of its strategy for the infrastructure sector.
Last August, AMP announced that it would expand its investment focus to include infrastructure. The news immediately preceded the launch of a global infrastructure fund and the opening of an infrastructure office in New York. Earlier this month, AMP, with two other infrastructure and energy firms, was named the preferred bidder for a transmission link to the 500 MW offshore wind farm off England's Suffolk coast.
