SCM opens office in Seoul
Swiss institutional investment advisor SCM Strategic Capital Management, which offers private equity fund-of-funds and advisory services, is expanding its footprint in Asia by opening a new office in Seoul.
The company has appointed Stephen Yeum as its South Korea country representative. An experienced operator in the domestic market, he will be responsible for choosing investments and tailoring services for SCM's Korean LPs. Prior to the appointment, Yuem was the CEO of private investment firm J Stephen & Company. He also worked for Warburg Pincus in Korea.
"Korea has developed a sophisticated institutional investor base that is an increasingly visible force in global private market investments," Stefan Hepp, SCM co-founder and CEO, said. "This results in a growing demand for the tailored services that SCM is providing to leading institutional investors around the world."
Since its establishment in 1996, SCM has advised on aggregate commitments of approximately $8 billion. Apart from Switzerland and Korea, it also has offices in Hong Kong and Luxembourg.
Last September, the firm announced a series of hires and promotions as part of its effort to strengthen its presence in Asia. Joseph Chang was promoted to head of the Hong Kong office, while Liya Wang joined the Asian team from Oak Investment Partners.
