CDIB Capital appoints Steven Wu as managing director
CDIB Capital, the PE arm of Taiwan’s China Development Financial (CDF), has appointed Steven Wu as managing director.
Based in Taipei, Wu focuses on the sourcing, underwriting and management of investments in the China-Taiwan vertical. He previously served as senior vice president at China Venture Management, an investing affiliate of CDF. Prior to that, Wu worked in WI Harper and Central Investment Holding, the largest investment holding company of the KMT (Kuomintang) Business Management Committee.
CDIB Capital has also hired four professionals in Hong Kong and San Francisco, including Grant Lin as senior vice president on the investment team.
CDIB closed its debut Asian fund at $405 million in August. The unit was set up in 2006 and committed capital from CDF's balance sheet. It now has third-party capital at its disposal from fund-of-funds, family offices, sovereign wealth funds, insurers and corporations.
The group pursues particular geographic corridors based on where it has offices - Taiwan-China, Korea-China, the US-China - and seeks to offer portfolio companies more than just a domestic strategy. It targets businesses with enterprise values of $100-500 million and writes equity checks of $25-75 million.
