Infinity Venture launches third China, Japan fund
Japanese tech-focused investor Infinity Venture Partners has launched its third fund - Infinity e.venture Asia III - which will focus on start-ups in Japan and China.
According to a statement, the fund has already raised $32 million from domestic corporate and individual investors and is hoping to reach a final close of $100 million next year.
The VC firm - which also runs the Infinity Venture Summit - counts Recruit Holdings, Daiwa Securities, game developer Sammy Networks, mobile developer Orso, social networking site Mixi, and United, among the investors in its latest vehicle.
Since its formation in 2009, Infinity has invested $128 million in over 40 tech start-ups in Japan and China, including Groupon Japan, Smart Education, cloud-based accounting platform Freee, Chinese payment platform Yeahka, and Chinese start-up database 36kr.
The group has also backed app store analytics company AppAnnie and luxury goods seller The RealReal Japan in partnership with San Francisco-based early-stage VC e.ventures.
