WI Harper, Matrix back game developer SNS Plus
WI Harper and Matrix Partners have co-led a $4 million round of funding for SNS Plus, an Asia-focused gaming company. SNS Plus has published more than 60 games on Facebook and a further 15 on other social networking platforms.
This latest capital injection takes the company's total fundraising activity to $12.5 million. It was one of two Taiwan-based firms with which Intel Capital announced provisional investment agreements two weeks ago as part of a $40 million commitment to 10 Asian tech companies.
SNS Plus' success is built on bringing mainland China game studios to the overseas market, and having a channel focus to secure stable capital. The company has offices in China, Taiwan, and Thailand.
"SNS Plus has many advantages including in-depth market research, local platforms collaboration, local payment systems collaboration, localized operation strategies, and diverse marketing plans. SNS Plus is not just a Taiwan and China play, but even more so a Southeast Asian play," said Peter Liu, founder and chairman of WI Harper, in a statement.
The investment was made through the WI Harper Fund VII, which closed in June at $110 million. Liu added that the fund was focusing on gaming, notably HTML5-based mobile and online developers, publishers, and game platforms.
WI Harper or also an investor and co-manager of the $180 million debut fund launched by Innovation Works, a Beijing-based tech incubator set up by Kai-fu Lee, former head of Google in China.
