RRJ Capital acquires kidswear brand Kingkow
RRJ Capital has acquired a 75% stake in Hong Kong-based children's wear retailer Kingkow.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Kingkow was set up in 1998 and is owned by SKC Group. The company designs, manufactures and sells children's clothing and accessories for ages 14 and under. It has operations in Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore, Thailand and other parts of Asia.
RRJ Capital, founded by Richard Ong in 2011, recently raised $3.5 billion for its second fund, with investors said to include China Investment Corporation (CIC) and Temasek Holdings. While the search for Asia-relevant energy assets has taken the GP into North America, it also invests within its home region.
Recent deals include an $80 million commitment to Chinese baby diaper manufacturer AAB International Group alongside CK Life Sciences.
News of the deal comes days after Shanghai-based Lunar Capital Management took a 51% stake in a joint venture to expand Italian luxury children's wear maker I Pinco Pallino's line of products to China and East Asia.
