
China entertainment news app secures $15m
France-based Ventech Capital has led a $15 million Series B round of funding for Happy Juzi, a Chinese entertainment news portal.
Existing investors ZhenFund and Matrix Partners China also participated.
Happy Juzi, operated by Juzi Culture Media, was established in October 2014. The mobile app provides Chinese entertainment news, covering celebrities, fashion, lifestyle and beauty information.
The company has a dedicated editorial team of 40 people, creating more than 100 original stories every day. Most of the content is driven by in-house research and industry surveys. The company also works with external parties on opinion pieces in order to enrich product lines on the platform.
The new capital will be used to improve content, Yiqing Tang, founder of Happy Juzi, told local media.
