
China consumer confidence down
Against a backdrop of double-digit GDP growth, a new survey from the China Economic Monitoring and Analysis Center and media research firm the Nielsen Company shows that consumer confidence fell four points to 100, its lowest since 2009. The results of the survey are an indication of concern among many in the PRC that inflation is affecting their way of life, and that it is not likely to improve in the short term.
"Chinese consumers may be losing some confidence, but they are still more optimistic than the rest of the world," said Mitch Barns, President of Nielsen Greater China.
