
SoftBank Venture backs Thai video game firm Ini3 Digital
SoftBank Ventures Korea (SBVK), the corporate investment arm of the Japanese telecoms giant, has taken a 23% stake in Thai online video game operator Ini3 Digital. The financial terms were not dislosed.
Set up in 2008, Bangkok- based Ini3 operates 17 online game titles, including fantasy golf game Pangya; it has 140 employees. It is also the lead investor in Galaxy Ventures, a boutique early stage investor targeting local mobile game developers and other technology startups.
SVBK COO Daniel Kang said in a statement that in addition to growth capital, SBVK will provide the company with access to networks via its existing portfolio companies in the gaming sector. Kang will join Ini3's board.
"SBVK is always looking to partner with technology companies that have solid market momentum, strong underlying financials and a proven management team. Ini3 fits this profile and is an ideal addition to our portfolio," he said.
