Australia’s IFM consolidates private markets platform
Industry Funds Management (IFM) has merged its private equity and private assets groups into one team, creating a new investment platform to be headed by current head of the private assets division, Phillip Bower.
The new integrated group, to be known as private capital, will incorporate the fund's private equity fund investments, private equity co-investments, private equity direct investments, and long term assets operations.
IFM head of private equity Steve Lipchin will continue to grow direct investments in small and medium-sized enterprises and co-investments with private equity managers.
"The integrated group will enhance its proposition to investors by better leveraging the considerable experience and capability that resides within these teams and enable an increased focus on investor returns and direct investments," IFM chief executive Brett Himbury said.
Bower joined IFM in November last year from Blue Star Group, where he was chief executive. Prior to this he was managing director at Unitas Capital.
IFM currently manages around $2.4 billion in international private equity investments, in both private equity funds and co-investments.
