IndoUS Ventures backs online furniture retailer
IndoUS Venture Partners has invested $1 million in UrbanLadder.com, an Indian online furniture store run by Bangalore-based Descasa Decor Online. The company will use the capital to enhance its technology and customer service infrastructure.
Founded by Ashish Goel and Rajiv Srivatsa in January , UrbanLadder sources furniture from manufacturers both locally and internationally. The site offers cash on delivery for orders below INR5,000 ($90) and card on delivery for all orders.
"Home décor is a large and under-served opportunity," said Vani Kola, managing director of IndoUS Venture Partners. "This large market requires solutions that offer customers value and requires affordable products with a convenient buying experience. The team at UrbanLadder has a highly differentiated approach."
UrbanLadder currently offers furniture across categories like tables and bar units, storage and shelves, seating and accessories. The company will expand its product portfolio to include sofas and beds in a couple of months.
