Carlyle promotes Parasuraman to Director
US-based private equity giant The Carlyle Group has promoted Mahesh Parasuraman – currently a Vice President of its Asia Growth Fund based in Mumbai – to the role of Director, a firm spokeswoman said.
According to Carlyle, Parasuraman focuses on Asia's growth capital opportunities across all industries. He sits on the boards of companies including Newgen Imaging Systems and Repco Home Finance, and has led investments in companies such as Sharekhan, Financial Software & Systems and Learning Mate Solutions, also serving on these boards. In addition to Carlyle, Parasuraman has worked at Ernst & Young Corporate Finance and Arthur Andersen.
Earlier this month, Managing Director and Head of Carlyle India's buyout team, Ranjeev Gupta, resigned from the firm after five and a half years to "pursue other interests." His departure left co-leader of the buyout team, Devinjit Singh, as the unit's sole MD. Carlyle currently has 10 investment professionals in its buyout and growth teams, the latter headed by Shankar Narayanan.
