Blue Sky makes new executive appointment
Blue Sky Alternative Investments has hired Lachlan McMurdo from Bain & Company as investment manager of the private equity division. He will be responsible for the company’s existing portfolio, as well as covering rapidly growing SMEs across sectors such as food, energy and housing.
Having spent three years as a consultant for Bain & Company's private equity group, McMurdo advised on commercial due diligence and corporate strategy for Australian and international firms working with financial services, mining and industrials and telecommunications clients.
"Lachlan's time at Bain & Company saw him consistently outperform expectations while working on multiple projects, resulting in millions of dollars worth of costs-savings and new revenue for clients," said Tim Wilson, managing director of Blue Sky Private Equity.
McMurdo is the third former Bain & Company executive at Blue Sky. Alexander McNab, who currently serves as investment director at Blue Sky, formulated corporate and business unit strategies and led performance improvement projects in Bain.
Robert Shand, investment manager, joined Blue Sky in September 2010. Prior to that, Shand spent six years at Bain & Company advising clients from private equity, mining, property, tourism, retail and manufacturing sectors on due diligence, strategy, operations and performance improvement.
