
Portea Medical raises $7.6m from Accel, Ventureast
Accel Partners and Ventureast have contributed INR480 million ($7.69 million) in Series A funding for Indian home healthcare provider Portea Medical.
Portea works with hospitals, insurance companies and individuals to improve health outcomes by providing in home care to geriatric, chronic and post-operative patients in four cities - New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.
It has five tier-one corporate hospitals as partners, a network of hundreds of referring physicians across India and claims to handle around 2,000 home visits a month.
Portea will use the funding to expand into a further six Indian cities.
"The funds will help us strengthen our offering even as we accelerate our expansion across India in the coming months, and invest in advanced diagnostic and remote monitoring technology to support our clinicians as they deliver a range of in-home healthcare services," Meena Ganesh, CEO at Portea said in a statement.
Mahendran Balachandran and Venkatadri Bobba, partners at Accel and Ventureast respectivelty, will join the company's board of directors.
