China’s Qiming appoints two new partners
Qiming Venture Partners has appointed two new partners, Kuantai Yeh and Jing Wu, who join from Highland Capital Partners and CITIC Private Equity, respectively.
Yeh previously spent 10 years with Highland and Intel Capital, where he was responsible for investments in the semiconductor, software, internet and mobile internet industries. He will be responsible for information technology deals.
Wu, who will focus on the internet and consumer spaces, was a vice president at CITIC PE, making investments in technology, media and telecom (TMT) companies. Before that she was an investment director at Shanda Capital, leading Shanda's corporate venture investments and M&A activities in the areas of internet, mobile and media.
"This latest addition to the Qiming team is evidence of our commitment to build the best investment team to serve our LP's and our entrepreneurs," Duane Kuang, managing partner of Qiming, said in a statement.
Earlier this year, Qiming hired Helen Wong, formerly of GGV Capital, as a partner with responsibility for internet and consumer investments. The move came a few months after Hans Tung, a managing partner, left for GGV.
The VC firm closed its fourth US dollar-denominated China venture capital fund at about $500 million in March. It now has $1.6 billion in assets under management across US dollar and renminbi-denominated funds, focusing on early to growth-stage investments in the internet and consumer, healthcare, IT and cleantech areas.
