AIC launches secondaries fund from Japan
Alternative Investment Capital Limited (AIC) has teamed with the Development Bank of Japan (DBJ) to launch the $150 million AIC Asia Opportunity Fund, L.P. The fund will target secondary investment opportunities in select Asian markets.
AIC claims that the vehicle is Japan's first "full-fledged secondary fund." According to a statement, the fund will focus on markets including China, India, Southeast Asia and Australia.
AIC will manage the fund while DBJ is its cornerstone LP and largest investor. Mitsubishi Corporation and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation have also committed capital to the fund, and its managers plan to approach institutional investors in both Japan and overseas to reach the $150 million target.
