
SingTel Innov8 leads $25m Series B round for Bitglass
SingTel Innov8, the corporate venture arm of Singapore telecoms giant SingTel, has led a $25 million Series B round of investment for US-based Bitglass, a provider of mobile cloud security solutions. Norwest Venture Partners and New Enterprise Associates (NEA) also took part in the round.
This latest investment brings the start-up's total funding to date to $35 million. Norwest and NEA invested $10 million in the company in March, 2013.
Found in 2013 and based in Silicon Valley, California, Bitglass provide a cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution for corporate data security. The platform allows corporate users to manage data security across various services including Google Apps, Salesforce, Office365 and Exchange.
Companies are essentially able to remotely control who, what, when, where and how their data is accessed via the platform. If a device is lost or stolen or an employee leaves the company, the firm can alsp an selectively wipe and block corporate data.
This latest round of investment will be used to expand sales, marketing and technology development of Bitglass' Total Data Protection solution. Scott Sandell, general partner and head of NEA's technology investing practice, will join Bitglass' board of directors.
