KKR appoints former India central bank deputy governor as advisor
KKR has appointed Anand Sinha, a former deputy governor of India's central bank, as an industry advisor. He will join the firm immediately.
Industry advisors are mainly former executives who provide industry-specific assistance regarding KKR's investments. In a release, the firm said that Sinha will help the firm to "provide long-term debt and equity capital to Indian companies."
Sinha worked at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from 1976 until his departure in January 2014. He served as deputy governor from January 2011 to 2014. At RBI, he covered several fields, including foreign exchange and deposit insurance, in addition to working closely on regulatory and supervisory policies for commercial banks and non-banking financial companies.
KKR has a history of recruiting former central bank executives. In 2011 it appointed D.S. Brar, a former director at RBI, as a senior advisor in India, and in 2013 it hired Henrique Meirelles, formerly governor of the Central Bank of Brazil, as a senior advisor in Brazil.
