Troutman Sanders opens Beijing office
Troutman Sanders has opened an office in Beijing, making it the law firm's third base in China since it entered the country in 1997. The office will led by Allen Shyu, formerly of Orrick.
Shyu boasts 15 years of experience representing venture capital and private equity firms, investment banks and securities houses, as well as issuers from Taiwan, China and Hong Kong on their US and global offerings.
Shyu mainly advises clients on Hong Kong and US venture capital and private equity matters, capital markets transactions, regulatory issues and mergers and acquisitions. He also provides regular counsel to companies in the Greater China region targeting US and other foreign companies for acquisition and investment opportunities.
"This opportunity to expand Troutman Sanders in Beijing was one that I could not pass up," said Shyu. "I believe I can contribute to Troutman Sanders' achievements in China and throughout Asia, as well as assisting Asia-based clients with their US investments and operations."
Last month, fellow law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton also announced an appointment to its Beijing office. New York-qualified lawyer Ling Huang will join the firm from Shearman & Sterling as a partner.
