Hiroyuki Watanabe to launch tech-focused venture fund
Former general manager of internet services firm NGI Group Hiroyuki Watanabe has spun out to launch a maiden venture fund.
According to Brightrust Japan, Watanabe has founded B Dash Ventures, which will manage its B Dash Fund with a target corpus of JPY2.5 billion ($32.6 million). Watanabe is looking to raise the vehicle by 2012, and will target internet start-ups and venture companies.
Brightrust adds that B Dash's LPs include NTT Investment Partners, NEC Biglobe, Gree, Septeni Holdings and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital, where Watanabe worked from 2007 to 2010.
Watanabe most recently held the role of director for the venture capital division of the publicly listed NGI Group. His profile notes that he held that role for less than a year and a half.
