
Insight invests Six Waves for Facebook
New York-headquartered VC Insight Venture Partners has sought to tap Facebook’s popularity by investing $17.5 million in Six Waves Inc. (otherwise known as ‘6 waves, a Hong Kong-based company that has developed a sheaf of products and games based on the Facebook platform.
Founded in early 2008 by ex-Yahoo employees Rex Ng, Terry Cheng, and Chris Lee, Six Waves claims 50 million active users of its games per month worldwide, and over 20 published social games. The money will be used to build Six Waves’ market share, and grow infrastructure and distribution capabilities. Jeff Horing, MD at Insight Venture Partners, said: “We have been impressed by 6 waves’ strong adoption in the company’s core markets, as well as their demonstrated ability to successfully transition games to new geographies and languages.”
