Indian home services portal Zimmber raises $2m
IDG Ventures and Sherpalo Ventures have taken part in a $2 million pre-Series A round for Rejuvenate Solutions, operator of Indian home services portal Zimmber.
Zimmber provides a platform through which people can book such home services as plumbing, carpentry, cleaning, and painting. The company will use the new funds to add more service categories and improve its technology support, and also to expand into new cities, according to a VCCircle story linked from Zimmber's Twitter feed. It plans to enter 37 new cities and grow its service offerings to 20 categories by 2016.
Previous funding for Zimmber includes a $400,000 bridge round in June from a group of angel investors, and an undisclosed seed round earlier this year. Home services marketplace start-ups have been a popular destination for Indian VC capital lately, with SAIF Partners and Accel Partners investing $10 million in UrbanClap and Tiger Global leading a $5 million Series A round for LocalOye.
Recent India investments by IDG include a Series B round for online women's apparel retailer eShakti.com.
